Our Privacy Policy – How we use your personal information

Countrywide Assured collect and use your personal information to administer your policy. We are committed to protecting your personal information and want to assure you that your information will be properly managed and protected whilst in our hands.

This Privacy Policy tells you more about when, from whom and why we collect your personal information, how we use it and your rights in relation to it.

Most of the personal information that we hold was provided by you when you applied for your policy or when you contact us to make enquiries about your policy and benefits, including making a claim.

The legal basis for using your personal information is to enable us to administer your policy, including updating you on and delivering our services. From time to time, we may use your information to contact you for consumer research purposes to improve the services we offer or how we communicate with you. We may contact you by email, phone or mail.

We may need to collect and use personal information regarding your health, with your express consent, to administer your policy. We will make clear to you when your consent is needed.

We will also process your information for good governance, accounting and managing, and auditing our business operations.

 4. Sharing your personal information with other parties

Your personal information may be shared with selected third parties, such as professional service providers, including data processing and administration only for the purposes of administering your policy. Some of the third parties with whom your personal information is shared may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Your information may also be shared with regulatory authorities and government bodies, your GP or medical practitioners, fraud prevention and credit reference agencies.

We require organisations to which we pass your information to treat it with the same level of protection as if we were dealing with it, and for suitable safeguards to be in place so your information is protected at all times.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

 6. How long do we keep your personal information for?

We need to keep personal information for as long as is reasonably necessary in accordance with our data retention policy as follows:

  • For as long as you might legally bring claims against Countrywide Assured
  • In accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • As long as may be necessary to deal with a query

Individuals have certain rights in relation to personal information held about them; you can ask:

  • what personal information we hold about you and be provided with a copy in a format that suits you
  • for incorrect personal information that we hold to be corrected
  • for personal information to be deleted (“the right to be forgotten”)
